Biblical Perspective of Missions

Understanding what the Bible says about Missions and God’s heart for the nations.  Discovering God’s Heart for the Nations

Summaries you’ll learn from this Training

A Biblical Foundation for Global Impact

At Church of Our Saviour (COOS), missions are not just about travel—they’re about transformation. In the first session of our four-part mission trip orientation series, participants are invited to explore the biblical perspective of missions, guided by Anna from the Missions Department. This foundational training sets the stage for a journey that goes far beyond borders, into the heart of God’s redemptive plan for all people.

🙌 Who Is This For?

This session is designed for short-term mission trip participants—individuals ready to step out in faith and serve across cultures. Whether you’re a first-time tripper or a seasoned volunteer, this orientation helps anchor your mission in Scripture and spiritual purpose.

📖 What You’ll Learn

The training dives deep into the Bible’s unified story: God’s love and salvation for the nations. From Genesis to Revelation, participants reflect on key verses that reveal God’s desire to reach every tribe, tongue, and people group (ethne). You’ll discover that missions are not a side project—they’re central to God’s plan.

Highlighted Scriptures include:

  • Genesis 12:1–3 – God’s covenant with Abraham to bless all peoples through obedience.
  • Psalm 67 – A prayer for God’s blessing so His ways may be known among the nations.
  • Matthew 28:18–20 – The Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.
  • Revelation 7:9–10 – A vision of every people group worshiping before the throne.

🕊️ Why It Matters

This session reminds us that we are blessed to be a blessing. Missions are not just about preaching in familiar places—they’re about stepping out to reach those who may never have heard the gospel. It’s a call

  • to go beyond our comfort zones,
  • to serve with humility, and
  • to share God’s love across cultures.

🛠️ How We Prepare

Participants engage in Scripture-based teaching, small group discussions, and personal reflection. The session emphasizes:

  • Obedience to God’s call
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences
  • Trust in the Holy Spirit’s power and presence

By grounding our mission in biblical truth and relational awareness, we prepare not just our hands—but our hearts—for the field.

Whether you’re preparing to serve in a neighboring region or across the globe, this orientation is your first step in aligning with God’s mission. Join us as we discover His heart for the nations—and our role in His story.
