🌍 Mission Trip Orientation: Preparing Hearts and Hands for the Field

At Church of Our Saviour (COOS), mission trips are more than just travel—they’re transformational journeys of faith, service, and spiritual growth. Led by Pastor Chris, Daniel Low (Head of Missions), and the dedicated COOS Missions team—Ana Tham, Ester, and Titus Chong—this orientation sets the tone for what it means to serve with purpose and humility.

🙌 Who’s Involved

This program welcomes short-term mission trippers from all walks of life, united by a shared calling to bless others and be blessed in return. With seasoned leaders guiding the way, participants are equipped not just with logistics, but with a deeper understanding of what it means to serve cross-culturally and spiritually.

📅 When and Where

The orientation unfolds during the pre-trip phase, hosted at COOS. It consists of four structured sessions, each designed to prepare participants for the realities and rewards of the mission field. Group discussions foster connection, reflection, and team unity before departure.

💡 Why It Matters

Mission work isn’t just about what we do—it’s about who we become. This training helps participants prepare emotionally, spiritually, and practically to serve others with compassion and integrity. It’s a journey of mutual transformation: while we go to bless others, we often return deeply changed ourselves.

🛠️ How We Prepare

The heart of the orientation lies in five key attitudes that every mission tripper is encouraged to carry:

  • Servanthood – Embracing the posture of Jesus, who came to serve.
  • Humility – Approaching others with respect, not superiority.
  • Submission – Trusting leadership and fostering unity.
  • Accountability – Living with integrity and openness.
  • Respect – Honoring cultural differences and valuing every person.

Through these principles, participants learn to listen more than they speak, collaborate across cultures, and serve with generosity and grace.

Whether you’re stepping into your first mission trip or returning for another season of service, this orientation is a sacred starting point. It’s not just about going far—it’s about going together, with hearts aligned to God’s mission and hands ready to serve.
